Three-Fruit Diet Smoothie

One thing that I enjoy about smoothies is that they really satisfy a sweet tooth without the need for excess sugar. And by combining milk, juice and fruit together this recipe results in a delicious and creamy diet smoothie with calcium, vitamins and protein. You can boost the protein even more by adding a scoop of vanilla whey protein powder.

This delicious diet smoothie recipe will come in at about 180 calories without the whey protein powder and 250 calories with it. Personally I like using whey protein powder in most of my smoothies to make them more filling and boost the nutrition. In fact, adding the whey protein along with the nonfat milk and healthy fruit turns this tasty snack into a nutritious yet low calorie breakfast or lunch. If you don’t have any whey protein powder on hand then try pairing it with few almonds or walnuts for extra protein and heart healthy monounsaturated fat. Remember, nuts are very good for you but also full of calories so just eat a few.

Three Fruit Smoothie

1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 banana, sliced into chunks and frozen
6 frozen strawberries
1/2 cup nonfat milk
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a blender or smoothie maker and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
